Much has been written of the Washington Post's Ombudsman - Deborah Howell. Pretty much 100% of it negative. And deservedly so.
Apparently, the Post and the New York Times have some sort of cosmic balance - when one has a good ombusdman, the other must have one equally as bad. Maybe it's a karma thing. I don't know. How else do you explain the flip from Michael Getler at the Post (a readers' advocate) and Daniel Okrent at the Times (craptacular) to Byron Calame at the Times (holding Times staff feet to the fire on the NSA story) to Deborah Howell at the Post.
